Those days, after deploying a new AV agent and trying to setup a new audit trail, I started to receive a weird “OAV-46511: missing plugin for trail at agent on host<\/strong>” error as below:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Agent was just deployed so no reason for the agent to not include the plugins. After researching a little, I’ve found in MOS that there is a\u00a0Bug 17958893 with similar symptom and the following resolution:<\/p>\n

SOLUTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Stop the Agent. Make sure that no processes are running from the Agent home.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Log into the AVDF interface and stop any Audit Trail that is using this Agent. These should already have been be stopped when the Agent was stopped, but check again.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Navigate to the Host tab, and select the Host named in the error. Click “Deactivate”. Select it again, and click “Activate”. (A new key should be created.)<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Navigate to the Host -> Agent page, and re-download agent.jar to the target Host.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Create a new home (or remove all files from the old Agent home), then redeploy the Agent:<\/strong>
    \n java -jar agent.jar -d <AGENT_HOME><\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. Start the Agent.<\/strong>
    \n cd <AGENT_HOME>\/bin<\/strong>
    \n .\/agentctl start -k<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Let’s try..<\/p>\n

    $ .\/agentctl stop\r\nStopping Agent...<\/pre>\n
    \"\"<\/p>\n
    Agent stopped…<\/p>\n
    Now Deactivating the host:<\/p>\n
    \"\"<\/p>\n
    $ java -jar agent.jar -d \/agent-audit\r\nChecking for updates...\r\nAgent is updating. This operation may take a few minutes. Please wait...\r\nAgent updated successfully.\r\nAgent installed successfully.\r\nIf deploying hostmonitor please refer to product documentation for additional installation steps.\r\n<\/pre>\n
    Re-activate the host on AV and then start the agent..<\/p>\n
    $ cd \/agent-audit\/bin\/\r\n$ .\/agentctl start -k\r\nEnter Activation Key:\r\nAgent started successfully.\r\n<\/pre>\n
    Trying to add the audit trail again..<\/p>\n
    \"\"<\/p>\n
    And it worked! Now I can proceed with my AV configuration.<\/p>\n
