My <strong>AWR\u00a0Snapshots<\/strong> were not being generated\u00a0even though it was full enabled.<\/p>\n<p>I did some checks to be sure I had no issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Checked that I had enough free space on <strong>SYSAUX<\/strong> tablespace. I was using only 5GB of the total 15GB.<\/li>\n<li>My\u00a0<strong>control_management_pack_access<\/strong> was &#8220;DIAGNOSTIC+TUNING&#8221;. That&#8217;s fine.<\/li>\n<li>My parameter\u00a0<strong>statistics_level<\/strong> was &#8220;TYPICAL&#8221;. That&#8217;s fine.<\/li>\n<li>My\u00a0<strong>DBMS_STATS.GET_STATS_HISTORY_RETENTION<\/strong> was to 31 days. That&#8217;s fine.<\/li>\n<li>The snapshot <strong>Interval<\/strong> was 60 minutes and <strong>Retention<\/strong> was 8 days. Also OK.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Everything was <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">OK<\/span><\/strong>, so I had no clue what was going on, until I decided to check which process is responsible for AWR collection.<\/p>\n<p>Answer: <strong>MMON<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So I started searching\u00a0for any MMON related issues on alert log. What was causing that problem finally appeared when I checked if MMON was running:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"shell\">[oracle@myhost ~]$ ps -ef | grep mmon\r\ngrid      7667     1  0  2015 ?        00:00:16 asm_mmon_+ASM\r\noracle   15937  2814  0 16:11 pts\/0    00:00:00 grep mmon\r\n[oracle@myhost ~]$<\/pre>\n<p>So, my MMON was <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>NOT RUNNING!<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Only for the ASM, not the DB. Unbelievable..<\/p>\n<p>As this was a critical and very important Production system, how could I respawn that daemon without bouncing the whole DB?<\/p>\n<p>Well, at least there is a work around!<\/p>\n<p>You can simply <strong>enable\/disable restricted session<\/strong> on your database:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"oracledb\">SQL&gt; alter system enable restricted session;\r\nSystem altered.\r\nSQL&gt; alter system disable restricted session;\r\nSystem altered.<\/pre>\n<p>Checking again if\u00a0MMON was running:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"shell\">[oracle@myhost ~]$ ps -ef | grep mmon\r\ngrid      7667     1  0  2015 ?        00:00:16 asm_mmon_+ASM\r\noracle    8680  1     0 16:15 pts\/0    00:00:00 ora_mmon_orcl\r\noracle   15937  2814  0 16:11 pts\/0    00:00:00 grep mmon\r\n[oracle@myhost ~]$<\/pre>\n<p>Finally my AWR snapshots started to be taken again!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Update:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Later, I&#8217;ve found that all this issue was caused for YAB (Yet Another Bug).
