OCM 11g Preparation - Use Recover Manager to perform complete database restore and recovery operations

If your an OCP, this is already in your blood.

What you need to do here is do all kinds of complete restore/recovery operations.

Practice the following:

  • Losing one or multiple logfiles (members or entire groups, active or inactive)
  • Losing one or all controlfiles
  • Losing one or all datafiles (with or without prior full backup)
  • Losing spfile
  • Losing everything (including spfile)
  • Database and Tablespace point in time recovery

I also recommend studying the situation where you have a data guard environment and you need to restore missing controlfile/datafiles on your primary using the standby (and vice versa).
